Starting a Green Light
When you start a Green Light in your town, you remain closely affiliated with Green Light New Orleans. Your program will be under our 501c3 status and will be covered by our insurance. We will provide you with training and ongoing support you will need, including web site design and maintenance.

Consultation to start a program
Our 4 day training will provide you with all the information needed to start your own community based program. You receive advice and ongoing support for database and program management as well. After training, your program remains independent from Green Light New Orleans.

Green Light New Orleans has inspired many volunteers and community activists to begin similar work in their own communities.

In 2008, Cassie Troyer started an official Green Light in South Carolina. Since that time, she has installed several thousand CFL light bulbs with the help of countless volunteers. Find out more about Green Light South Carolina here.

In 2010 Richard Skorman used the Green Light model to found Project Smart Light in Colorado Springs. As part of the consultation package, Green Light provided a four day training session along with materials and data base templates. Please check it out and support their work!

Inspired by Green Light New Orleans, Candee Henderson decided to change light bulbs in her community of Thomasville, Georgia. Her mission: "To replace all of the incandescent light bulbs in at least 10 homes in the Victoria Place Urban Redevelopment Area of Thomasville with compact fluorescents (CFLs), while educating the homeowners on energy efficiency and recycling." To help her to continue that work you can contact her at marpies@mchsi.com
